about us
History
Starting with a few local cyclists from Lorne and nearby towns in the 1990’s, we evolved into the ‘Lorne Bunch’ in the early 2000’s, before becoming ‘Great Ocean Road Cycling’ or ‘GORC’ in late 2006/early 2007. GORC brings together individuals and families with a passion for cycling and friendship. In 2014, GORC became an incorporated association and now has members from towns along the Great Ocean Road stretching from Anglesea to Apollo Bay. With both beautiful scenery and quiet roads, the Great Ocean Road and the Otways are a prime destination for cycling on Victoria's Surf Coast.
What we do
We are an inclusive social cycling group helping residents and visitors enjoy safe riding on and around the Surf Coast, Otways and the Great Ocean Road.
We ride every day (who wouldn’t on the GOR?!), mainly on the road, but also on off road gravel tracks in the Otways and on MTB tracks at Forrest. View more about our regular Rides here.
Each year we conduct several informal marquee club rides, which are great occasions for members who may not ride together regularly to catch up and enjoy a major ride. Additionally we conduct some great non riding events such as Ocean Swims, bush walks, golf days and social events for members and their families and friends.
